I start with the page inventory, component patterns, mobile layouts, fonts, and image assets. We identify missing states such as long product titles, unavailable variants, empty collections, and cart feedback. Agreeing on these early avoids discovering important behavior only after the main layouts have been built.
A design file describes how a page looks; the implementation also needs to describe how it behaves and how the merchant maintains it. I map repeated design patterns to Shopify sections, decide which content needs settings, and separate reusable styles from page-specific details. This makes the implementation easier to review and gives the store team defined controls for future updates.
The staging review compares the storefront with the approved designs across agreed screen sizes. We check type, spacing, imagery, navigation, and interactive states with representative products. Where a design depends on an app or a platform capability, I raise the constraint and agree on the approach rather than silently changing the intended experience.
